Think Your Insurance Company Undervalued Your Totaled Vehicle?

If your vehicle was declared a total loss and the settlement offer feels too low, I can help. I review the insurance company's valuation, prepare an independent appraisal, and represent you through the appraisal process.

How I Can Help

I work directly with vehicle owners, attorneys, and insurance professionals on the types of claims where an independent opinion matters most.

Challenge a Low Total-Loss Offer

If your insurance company says your vehicle is worth less than it should be, I can review the valuation, identify problems with the comparable vehicles used, and prepare an independent appraisal to support a fair settlement.

Diminished Value Claims

Even after a quality repair, a vehicle may be worth less because of its accident history. I help document that loss and support your diminished value claim.

Umpire Services

When two appraisers cannot agree on a vehicle's value, I can serve as a neutral umpire to help resolve the dispute.

You'll Work Directly With Me

01

When you call, you'll talk to me

Your claim will not be handed off to a call center or passed around between people who do not know your case.

02

When you email, I'll answer

I personally review the valuation, explain your options, and help you decide whether the appraisal process makes sense before you move forward.

03

Honest numbers

I value vehicles based on what comparable cars are actually selling for in the local market. The number lands where the data takes it, no matter who hired me.

04

28+ years in insurance

I started in the industry in 1998 and have worked on every line of business. That background means I know how insurance valuations are built and where the problems in them tend to hide.

How It Works

Most clients start with a free review. Here is what the process typically looks like from there.

01

Send Me Your Valuation Report

I review the insurance company's valuation and look for problems with the comparable vehicles, mileage adjustments, condition adjustments, and market support.

02

We Discuss Your Options

I explain what I see, whether the offer appears low, and whether using the appraisal clause makes sense for your claim.

03

Independent Appraisal

If you move forward, I prepare an independent valuation based on the vehicle, the local market, and available comparable sales.

04

Appraisal Process

I work directly with the insurance company's appraiser to try to resolve the value dispute.

05

Settlement

Most claims are resolved without going to court. Once the appraisal process is complete, the insurance company issues payment according to the policy and claim handling process.

Know Your Rights

What Is the Appraisal Clause?

Many auto insurance policies include an appraisal clause. This allows you and the insurance company to each select an independent appraiser when there is a disagreement over the value of your totaled vehicle.

The two appraisers review the claim and try to agree on a fair value. If they cannot agree, an umpire may be selected to help resolve the dispute.

This process can give vehicle owners a way to challenge a low total-loss offer without immediately going to court.
